MATRIX is an X-41 One Design from X Yachts of Denmark. This year Matrix is making its second appearance in the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race since being purchased by its skipper, Graham Furtado. During the last few seasons its crew of assorted X-Men have been getting more and more familiar with what it takes to make this Danish yacht perform to its full potential.
Unlike the Marvel characters, these X-Men were not born with ANY superhuman abilities but sail and party just as if they were. This B2G, the X-Men are looking forward to a hard, competitive race North and giving their rivals a good look at the Matrix logo on its stern. On board and navigating will be Brian Pozzy who will be racing in this his 18th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race.
Among the other X-Men on board will be The Dancer known for his pirouettes on the foredeck; The Finger will be at the keyboard and taking requests; The Viking, aka Hagar, will be translating X-Yachts How To Sail Fast manual from Danish to err, Jibberish; and making a guest appearance will be the multi-talented just ask him Shadow say no more.
Ballast is looking forward to his very first off shore weight loss program under the watchful eyes of the Medic who has an ample supply of suppositories in case his mal de mer gets out of control. In charge of crew fitness and the galley is Gaz, aka TRX-man who will no doubt be encouraging Ballast to have just one more curry pie.
Last but no mean least is the Yellow Wiggle. With 000s of ocean miles under his belt in just 2017 alone, Geoff understands the rationale behind elite athletes not peaking too early. Competitors are encouraged to listen out for the cries of Wake up Geoff as we duck and weave during the starting sequence.
Unfortunately, Marvel Girl is unable to join them for this race as she is still recovering after an uncontrolled descent from high-altitude heels.
