A Swanson Carmen class design built in Dee Why in 1965, Carinya was one of the first half-tonners in Australia and competed in the inaugural Half-Ton Cup in France in 1968. The boat raced for many years out of MHYC, with several other Carmen-class boats, such as Cavalier, Cadence, Calliope and Carmen. She has completed many long ocean races, including the Sydney-Hobart, Sydney-Brisbane, Brisbane to Noumea, 10 Brisbane to Gladstone races, and was the first yacht to cross the Tasman both ways singled-handed. She currently races with Manly YC and the SASC.
